The Internet of Things, on the other hand, represents a series of interconnected devices communicating with each other over an internet connection. IoT devices interact with each other without human intervention and make our lives easier. It’s not necessarily Artificial Intelligence, but IoT can help improve cognitive computing and, in turn, machine learning. The Fear of Outperforming Humans
The biggest impediment to the growth of Artificial Intelligence is the human race itself. We are so afraid of robots outperforming us thus rendering human labor useless, and we are blocking our own efforts towards developing this kind of technology. Many believe that AI can either destroy the society and the world as we know it or make all our dreams come true. The uncertainty surrounding this issue is an unprecedented hurdle to Artificial Intelligence (AI).
But that’s just humans being paranoid. The benefits of Artificial Intelligence outweigh its potential drawbacks. In fact, experts believe that robots will solve most of the problems humans are dealing with right now. For instance, we are facing a fast aging population, meaning that most of us will have to be physically present to take care of the elderly. But Artificial Intelligence allows much longer independence when used to take care of the aging population. That means more time for you and I to focus on other more important things, like innovating and improving technology.

Future of AI
According to University of Amsterdam’s Informatics Institute professor Shimon Whiteson, we are all going to be cyborgs in the future. Professor Whiteson believes that, contrary to the popular opinion that humans will always be different from AI, we’ll become a tightly coupled cognitive unit. We will not always be separate from computers. We would all be more productive if our brains could be augmented with infallible calculators and memories.
Well, the good professor has a point. Maybe some time in the future, we will be able to download skills into our brains and become cyborgs, nobody knows. What we are certain about is that Artificial Intelligence will be leading the next technological revolution. Instead of worrying about AI, the best thing we can do for now is embrace the technology and device ways to use it to our benefit.
