But, there will come a time when your business needs to move beyond the dining table and distractions. Here are some things to consider.

1. Your productivity has plummeted

There’s no doubt about it, working from home can involve plenty of distractions. Kids, partners, pets, neighbours and household chores calling your name all hinder productivity and focus. If your productivity has plummeted of late, leaving you stressed and anxious about deadlines, perhaps it’s time to plan your office move.

2. Your business is growing

When you work from home, business growth is quite obvious. You’ll either be outgrowing your office, you need room for employees to sit or you’re so overwhelmed with orders, you’ve outgrown your garage to store your inventory.  When it’s this obvious, it’s time for a move.

3. You want to be more professional

It can be challenging to maintain a professional image when working from a home office. There’s trying to maintain a phone call or Skype meeting while children are crying in the background or being unable to invite clients for a meeting amongst mess and children’s toys. Brand image is everything these days and if you’re finding it difficult to maintain your brand image while working from home, perhaps now is the time for an office move.

4. You’ve run out of room

If you’ve run out of room to store your products, that’s a good thing because you’re making sales! But wouldn’t it be great to be able to use your garage to park your car and claim your linen cupboard back for its original purpose?  In addition to running out of room to store products, if your home office is starting to get seriously cluttered, it can be quite hard to get your creative juices flowing amongst mess and clutter. A new office space has the potential to kick your creativity up a notch which will hugely benefit your business.

5. You need to hire employees

If you’re at a point of needing to hire employees but you’re uncomfortable having them work in your home office (or you have no space), it’s time to move to an external office. You can’t grow if you can’t hire.

6. You miss the buzz of an office

Working from home does have its perks, but if you’re working solo, it can feel very isolating. If you’re craving the buzz of an office and the ability to brainstorm with other entrepreneurs or share a coffee with someone other than your dog, perhaps it’s time for you to consider a move to an office.

Moving office can seem like somewhat of a daunting task, particularly when trying to run a busy business. Instead of putting yourself through the stress of doing it yourself, we suggest using professional office movers who offer professional packing and unpacking services and can safely and efficiently move your office and inventory for you.
